Little update. For the past few weeks, I’ve had a cough that’s been slowly getting worse and worse. Today it got so bad that it made me lightheaded, I felt like I could barely stand up anymore, and I couldn’t breathe. I had another coughing fit, and this time I just didn’t recover. I ended up folding over onto the break room table.
Thankfully for me, I’m an OR nurse, so if you’re gonna halfway collapse from respiratory distress, what better place to do it than around a bunch of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and elite RNs, right? My awesome and amazing coworkers got me some oxygen and wheeled me downstairs to the ED.
I got a breathing treatment, and that made me feel a million times better. My breathing got way better, and the pain in my lungs went away. All my labs, tests, and imaging looked good though, so they think I’m just working through a respiratory virus.
So now I’m at the pharmacy filling my meds, and then I’m gonna go back to my floor and keep working. Thank you for all the kindness and for everyone reaching out to ask if I need anything. I’m just gonna finish my shift, then get some rest and try to stay out of the cold as much as possible 😅
