My ex strangled me hard enough to leave bruises on my neck. He was arrested, and then walked out on a $500 bail—even though they knew he needed a mental health evaluation and I told them in my police report that he was planning to leave the country.
He has a prior assault for strangling another woman—a felony pled down to a misdemeanor. He has an active warrant in Colorado for fleeing that state. They had all of this information. So why was his bail basically the cost of a Costco run?
I’ll tell you where he is now: Mexico City.
[Image 1: A screenshot from his social media story tagged "Mexico City, Mexico." It shows a pot of food boiling on a stove with the caption: "I cooked up something delicious today."]
[Image 2: A photo of a new, expensive-looking white microscope set up on a desk. The text overlay reads: "Now I just a periodic table to go on the wall over my bed." His caption reads: "It all really coming together. I finally have the microscope I wanted."]
[Image 3: A photo of a wooden sign hanging on a bathroom wall above a towel rack. The sign reads: "It’s never too late to live HAPPILY EVER AFTER." The location is tagged Mexico City, Mexico.]
That’s his fresh start. Meanwhile, I’m standing in the wreckage—healing, rebuilding, trying to move forward—while the system that was supposed to protect me decided that a man who strangles women was worth $500 and a wave goodbye.
This is what “justice” looks like. Why are we letting violent people walk out of jail so easily?

Jennifer Sell Malusky · 10h I am sorry you are going through this, Mileena. It's disgusting how the consequences are so minimal for someone with a prior violence record. I wish you peace and healing. 👍 1
Mileena Rose · 1h · Author Thank you so much 💕 it will be a long journey to healing, but I'll get there.
Ethan Rae Bariso · 2h The justice system is completely fucked up! 👍 1
Mileena Rose · 1h · Author It really is! I want to try to change it. Someone has to try. 😢 1
Dayne Herber · 5h All too often in the world today, if you want justice, you have to make justice for your self. Play the long game, connect, make up, play the part, when the time is right, serve up your plate of justice with a side of karma. Good luck and God bless. 👍 1
Mileena Rose · 5h · Author 100%, there's a lot going on behind the scenes currently. I'm not going down without a fight. Thank you for your encouraging words ❤️
Dayne Herber · 5h If nothing else, when you really need some mental peace, close your eyes, meditate and let your imagination create the peace you deserve. I've had certain people that have hurt me get their karma in my chill zone many times. 😁 🤗
Jeremy West · 4h Oh has priors and you chose him?
Mileena Rose · 3h · Author Yeah, I did. Unfortunately, people like him are very convincing. They build a false reality and pull you into it until their lies start to sound reasonable. I was tricked. Have you ever been deceived before? It happens. It makes you feel stupid and embarrassed, but it's also a lesson you don't forget. 👍 1
T Raie Dsr · 5h I have the same story its disgusting what they get away with 👍 1
Mileena Rose · 5h · Author I'm so sorry that you can relate. I can't even believe this is real life. Something needs to change.
T Raie Dsr · 5h exactly. I still cant believe it. The cops said I left the bruises myself. I waited 9 days for the cops to arrest him. 9 days of pure hell. He got on a bus back to Mexico amd they quashed his warrants cause he left like wtf 😡 1
Mileena Rose · 5h · Author That is a disgusting failure of the system put in place to protect. Wow. What a sham of a legal system. There are too many stories just like ours and it makes me sick.
T Raie Dsr · 5h me too. All we can do is tell our story and be an advocate for the ones who haven't left their abusers and need to.
Kari Swalinkavich · 4h Because the entire system was built and run by men. Society does not value women. 👍 1
Mileena Rose · 3h · Author a very unfortunate and disgusting truth. 👍 1
Chazy Olson · 1h pretty much par for this kind of behavior
