I was pissed off about something and was like, okay, I need to chill out for a second. So I went and laid down.
A little while later, my 4-year-old, Zelda, starts going, “Kuh-Koo!” So I go, “Kuh-Koo!” back. Then my 8-year-old, Mara, joins in and goes, “Kuh-Koo!” too.
And then Zelda goes, “No, you can’t say Kuh-Koo!”
So I’m like… okay, whatever.
Then Zelda says “Kuh-Koo!” again and looks at both of us smiling. So once again, I go, “Kuh-Koo!” and Mara immediately joins in with her own “Kuh-Koo!” and AGAIN Zelda goes, “NO, YOU CAN’T SAY KUH-KOO!”
At this point I’m like, okay, fuck you, because you literally wanted this. Why are you getting mad at me for doing the thing you keep baiting me into doing??
Then this little menace laughs, goes, “Kuh-Koo!” again, and looks at both of us like she’s just waiting for us to fall for it one more time.
And now I’m like, no, absolutely not. Shame on me the first two times.
So in pure 4-year-old frustration and impatience, Zelda starts jumping up and down yelling, “KUH-KOO!! KUH-KOO!! KUH-KOO-KUH-KOO-KUH-KOO!!”
I’m laying there keeping a straight face, refusing to make eye contact.
Then she escalates and starts jumping, throwing her hands in the air, folding over like she’s doing the wave at a football game, screaming, “RaWrRrah!”
And I just look at her, gesture both hands toward her, and go, “Why? Where did you even learn this?”
Then Mara starts yelling, “I eat chairs! I eat chairs!”
And now they’re both going at the same time, and I’m laying there thinking, what the hell is happening in this house right now.
P.S. I probably should’ve used emojis to convey more emotion, 😅 so that’s my autistic bad there. But rest assured, I was laughing my ass off the entire time this was happening. I was just in such complete disbelief that I needed to write it down.
