Over the past few months, I’ve started recognizing a lot of repeat names.
I feel like I’ve gotten so many little glimpses into so many of your lives just from reading the hundreds and hundreds of comments you all leave me. I really do try my best not to miss a single one, because you took the time to write something for me to read, and I want you to know that your effort is appreciated. Even those of you who have been here for months without ever saying a word, your name does not go unnoticed.
Lately, I’ve seen a lot of you keep saying “we” in your comments.
And that has really struck something in me.
Because it feels like we can all feel the shift. Slowly, there are more and more of us gathering here, and this space has started to feel like something bigger than me.
I think I’m starting to see why.
The people who keep showing up here are a specific kind of person. You love hard. You feel things deeply. You carry emotions that the people around you did not always know what to do with. A lot of you have spent a long time being told that the parts of you that love the most are the parts that are wrong with you.
So you got quiet about it. Because being loud about it kept costing you.
I know that because I am one of you.
And I think what is happening here is that we are finding each other.
That is why this feels different.
And people notice it. A lot of people read your comments to me too. They see the way I respond to you. They see the way you speak to each other. They recognize that this is a place with an unusual amount of thoughtful, kind, extraordinary people gathered together.
That is not something you find very often. But it is what we have made together.
And I’m so grateful that I get to be part of it.
